Smoky Mountains

From the Midwest, I am used to the green landscape due to the large amount of annual rainfall. The Smoky Mountains show that with the mass amounts of lush, green, tree covered terrain. Having never been there I believe it would be the perfect opportunity not only to shoot some great sunset photos, but to also capture multiple wildlife species on camera.

This great shot of the mountains(more like large hills), shows the variety of deep colors you are exposed to capturing. The haze in the background isn't smoke, but fog rising from all of the damp, vegetation which has saturated the air next to it creating a small blanket of fog. This fog softens the light and makes the trees close to the camera appear slightly faded so there is an equal distribution of attention between both the landscape and the sky.

Eastern Montana Rocks!

For me this picture represents where I spent most of my time in high school and also depicts the beauty of Eastern Montana. This photo was taken inside of Makoshika State Park located directly east of Glendive. I've lived in Glendive for six years and spent just about every other weekend at this park admiring the beauty of the landscape and amazing sunset it offers.

As seen in the photo, the sunset really does identify the several geological formations that have accumulated over thousands of years. What I truly admire about this picture is that as you see the weathered rock on the left, you are exposed to the rich and green vegetation on the right, presenting you with the variety of landscape and foliage included in the park. Something else that stuck out was the light colored sandstone and the faded sun reflecting that same faded, light color. This also is clear with the solid blue sky diagonal from the dark green forest.

This picture as also taken in Makoshika, has the sun beaming against the yellow tops of leafy spurge covering the lower terrain in the park. While not colorless, the faded appearance shows as part of the dry region the park is located.
